Relaunch!
It’s been a while, too long really. I would first like to apologize for my absence in posting and also thank all of my wonderful subscribers for staying subscribed! There has been a lot going on in these past several months and my mind hasn’t really been on tarot but i’m not trying to turn this into a current events blog. I have tons of notes, a stack of drafts and something in the back of my mind that just won’t let go - i definitely do want to finish this project!
So I figured since we have this lacuna now I figured I would take this opportunity to finally release the video series that I intended make from the beginning!
I originally started this Substack to host the companion articles for this series. I was on a roll up until the third episode which was slated to be “The Meaning of Tarot”. Ahead of that episode I started writing what became a series of essays which went on for 10 parts and took close to 3 months to produce. After that, I came across some material that had eluded me and it became clear that I needed to write an update for the oldest tarot card guide which became this. BUT since that was also the subject of the 2nd Tarot Mysteries episode - that video should also be remade. When I made the first edition of the guide I was not aware that many of the packs such as the Fournier Museum Cards etc. that were discussed by Dummett & Kaplan had definitively been outed as forgeries now.
I really want to make this series the very best and most in-depth series covering Tarot History that is available online.
The plan is the same as it always was - 21 episodes divided into 3 x 7 episode blocks or ‘seasons’ each covering a different era of tarot history. The tentative schedule for the first season goes as follows:
Season 1 - Italian Renaissance Tarot
1 - Origins of Tarot [Redux]
2 - The Oldest Tarot Cards [Redux]
3 - Tarocchi del Mantegna
4 - Sola Busca
5 - Variants (Bolognese, Minchiate, Siciliano)
6 - Tarot de Marseilles
7 - The Meaning of Tarot
You will notice that the Meaning of Tarot has been moved to the finale I feel like it fits better there. The first two episodes are remakes - they will both be longer and cover material- some slides will be reused but I am doing an all new recording. Mantegna and the variant decks already have companion articles that are up on here. I have started drafts for a TDM guide multiple times as well as for Sola Busca so it will be nice to finally complete and release those.
CURRENTLY I am about 1/3 of the way through the script for the first episode. I would like to get 3 or 4 of these wrapped before I start releasing them so they can come out on a schedule. Ideally I would like to start dropping these by the end of next month or early August on here, YouTube, Rumble and Odysee.
The second season is planned to be about the French occult revival and the third season will cover modern tarot. I don’t want to over promise right now because if the views aren’t there for season one maybe those won’t get made. BUT season one definitely be will made, this year, hopefully next month!
I wanted to get this out there and let you all know that I am OK and I am over here cooking. I’ll post a little bit more about it when I get closer to releasing the series. #GETHYPE
